My summer has been pretty fast-paced. Since I'm secluded from the outside world with minimal access to life's distractions, I have been able to use some introspection to fuel who I want to be, learn from insightful discussions with my coworkers/friends, and truly focus on myself.
I'm not a 'life expert' by any means, but these are things I believe everyone needs to focus on for a happy life:
* Be able to be on your own and live your own life happily before being in anyone else's.
* Nourish your body, every day. Run, walk, dance, eat healthy, sleep, drink water, and treat your body well.
* Always use the golden rule.
* Use good manners and say thank you.
* Focus on the present, learn from the past, and be hopeful for the future.
* Things don't have to be perfect to be everything you need.
* Hand-written letters and cards are much more meaningful than electronic communication. Take the time to write someone you care about a note, or send a card letting them know you are thinking about them.
* "Be kind, for everyone is fighting a hard battle."
* "If it works for you, it works."
