mouthwash

this, is my face. covered in freckles, with the occasional spot and some veins.
this, is my body. covered in skin and not all of it you can see.
and this, is my mind. it goes over and over the same old lines.

and I use mouthwash. sometimes I floss. I got a family and I drink cups of tea. I've got nostalgic pavements. I've got familiar faces. I've got mixed up memories and I've got favorite places.

and it begins..

..Summer. It's hot. It's muggy. It's happenin'.

Lately,
- I've made it my soul purpose to hunt down places that have been aired on Food Network, and go eat there. Today I ate a BoBo's in Topeka, KS which was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. YUM. Also, I had two decadent cupcakes at Daddy Cakes in Topeka. The owner of Daddy Cakes competed on Cupcake Wars on Food Network. DOUBLE YUM. This summer I want to eat at Grinders, as seen on the network as well
- I have been researching my future. i.e. looking at graduate programs and going through a mock interview/writing resumes/cover letters/memos. Very scary and too much contemplating and planning.
- Planning my 21st birthday, my meals, my days
- Getting ready for my upcoming trip to North Carolina to see my big sis July 1st
- Tool concert Friday! Oh yeeeeuh...

mmm that's about it. Oh and I'm addicted to Iced Coffee..Thanks Annie! P.s. Very sad I missed Chalk and Walk. I had a disastrous weekend since I left my wallet/keys on the KU bus. However they were returned to me today- phew.

bloo-berries

Today, after a huge thunderstorm Katie and I hit the town. Our mission was originally to get some stuff for her new apartment, but we ended up getting a few others things as well. We stopped by a local foods grocery store and she got a lot, and I got a little. I bought local blueberries- because there is nothing like eating something that was picked in this very town. When I got home I made pancakes because I was so excited to eat them! Note: process.

Before:
I added the blueberries a minute after I poured the batter so they wouldn't sink to the bottom.

One pancake,

Two pancakes,

DEVOUR

Result:
1. the tastiest pancakes ever
2. one happy tummy

trip down memory lane

I just used up the last bit of my gingerbread spice tea left over from winter. It's from the holiday collection from Celestial Seasonings tea. Making this tea reminded me of all the other flavors. I haven't tried all of these, but I will suggest gingerbread spice, sugar cookie sleigh ride, and candy cane lane. They really are so good. Try them...around the holidays or in June. haha!

yumm....
it's good cold, or hot!

And I'm excited to try this one! I saw it at the store the other day and I don't know why I didn't pick it up! Perhaps it is because my tea/coffee cabinet is already overflowing!

Anthropologie

I could wear everything- Except the bowl and rug, but I could make use of them somehow.

Today was my first day of my summer classes  [one of two]. I have a feeling this effective business communication class will be a reading/writing intensive class. I think this because my professor said so. We have to make resumes, conduct mock interviews, hold meetings with professionals in our field of study, and learn how to "type professionally and clean." I think these are important aspects for life, however, I also feel like I'm taking an English class. I'm saddened by the disappearance of my morning routine. Jasmine green tea with honey just isn't as good at 1:30 pm when the sun is high and it's already 81 degrees. But I gotta do what I gotta do.

Also, I am praying that somehow, someday, we figure out this oil spill situation. My blog is supposed to be a happy place, but I feel a little guilty writing about things that aren't as important as the world we live in. Sometimes.

The good thing about having a mother who owns lots of  vintage jewelry is that you get to try them on.

biscottea!

I post a new blog every couple of days. Bare with me. I wonder when I'm going to run out of ideas??
anyways.
I want to have a tea party.
With jasmine green tea, PG tips, vanilla chai, honey and Biscottea shortbread and frilly place settings. A legit, tea party. If this happens, it will consist of/be like so: outdoors, sunshine, tea.

It's frilly and girly enough to be cute, but not enough to make me want to gag.

“The first cup moistens my lips and throat. The second shatters my loneliness. The third causes the wrongs of life to fade gently from my recollection. The fourth purifies my soul."

I woke up this morning in the kind of morning that lasts all afternoon.
It was thundering lightly, and I could hear the rain pattering on my roof. And for a moment, I was happy.

Lately, I even have to remind myself to breathe.

On another note: I'm home this weekend at my parents house. I'm spending the weekend babysitting my three wonderful dogs since no one will be here, and although most college students would wince at the thought of it, I'm really glad I decided to come home. I literally absorb the memories like a sponge. Walking through each room, and especially my back porch, makes old feelings rush back to me. And while going through my "old memories" drawer where I stash all my notes, movie ticket stubs, pictures, and other odds and ends, I decided to post some old pictures that bring memories back to me as well. This is me, then. And I miss it.
