it's that time of year, my favorite time of year

Friday night: not your typical friday night. I went to Candle Queens Candle Boutique in downtown LV for some retail therapy (mostly to buy a bling watch). It's not the first nor the last time I will step foot into the super-girly, holiday fun-filled wonderland.

And, homemade bread!

Beyond hanging out and having a relaxing weekend, I did a little bit of self reflection while I was home. I read both of my old diaries in their entirety and reflected on what has changed and stayed the same with me. Emotionally I've stayed the same, intellectually I have progressed (probably a good thing), but in my choices in music, fashion, and art, I've stayed pretty stationary. An interesting finding is how certain tastes have changed a lot but I still have my same old favorites:

Songs -
1. The Shins - Caring Is Creepy
2. Cursive - Into the Fold
3. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Hey
4. Tool - Right In Two
5. Incubus - Just a Phase

Nail polish color - anything nude/pink on my finger nails, and Cajun Shrimp by O.P.I on my toesies

Food: macaroni and cheese, thai food, udon noodle soup, sushi, a really juicy cheeseburger

Drink: jasmine tea, welch's grape juice, chai tea, COFFEEZZZ

Favorite Day: sleep in, gym, pumpkin patch, walk around the plaza, out to LuLu's for dinner, watch a movie in, cuddle with my dogs

Movies: Forrest Gump, A Lot Like Love, Pulp Fiction, The Departed, The Lord of the Rings (first two),  Titanic (I'm a sucker), Toy Story

Favorite phrase: "I feel infinite"

Hobbies: photography

Season: fall, for sure

Accessories: scarves, funky earrings, my new bling watch!

Important features of a lover: intelligence and humor; he's gotta make me laugh and he has to be smart

candy stripes

It's no secret (or maybe it is) that I love stripes. But there seems to be a new phenomena that I've adopted: cropped striped t-shirts. I don't know who invented these or why they became such a staple, but I must say I love. How can something so nonform-fitting and boxy look so cute? Who knows. Check out my cropped striped t-shirt from Target (also see the model sporting the same shirt).

Also on my wishlist:
 Xhilaration cropped shirt from Target

Oh, and, I finished my book. Perspective changing, to say the least

bold statements

big, bold, colorful are things people remember. Things that make your image unique. There's nothing like dainty, delicate jewelry to make an appearance, but sometimes you just have to have fun and be creative.

something about it

There's something about driving back home in a convertible with cool September air blowing through my hair. Sipping on my iced coffee and listening to Cursive and Ok Go!, it brings me right back to how I used to be. I feel infinite. The feeling of coming home is so strong, especially when you are greeted by your pups, family, and a long time friend for a home cooked meal and good laughs.

It's crazy how much places can have an influence on our thoughts, feelings, memories, and other internal factors. Even driving down Main Street listening to music I enjoyed back in 2006 (still the best year of my life) in the autumn air, reminds me of pumpkin patches, getting coffee at Scooters, walking my dog at night, watching the fireworks after a T-Bones game even though we didn't attend it, sitting on top of Dave and Busters, and falling in love. I never want to leave this place or the way it makes me feel.

Today was one of those days. I ventured to my parents' house and then to Ft. Leavenworth for some medical stuff, to the PX, then sat by the Lake on Ft. Lv and watched the geese hiss at each other and waddle around, then strolled through the downtown farmer's market and looked at the local veggies and almost bought some homemade soap but didnt, then I stopped by the store to get my brother his birthday present (felt coloring books, and unfortunately they didn't have a slinky or else I would've gotten him that too), then back home to cook out with my mom and brother (grilled chicken, steamed broccoli, and fettucini alfredo). Follllllowed by doing homework, watching tv, baking cookies, and hanging out with my friend Guy.

It might not be a typical day for a college student, but it's perfect for me.

Happy 25th to my brother!
